RCN Sponsors 19th Annual Earthfest & Encourages Environmentally Friendly Habits Through Twitter Contest
Special Guest Appearance from Baseball Hall-of-Famer Jim Rice
BOSTON – May 16, 2012 – RCN Boston announced today that it is the Exclusive VIP Sponsor of the 19th Annual Radio 92.9 EarthFest taking place Saturday May 19, at Boston’s DCR Hatch Shell. As part of the celebration, RCN Boston is conducting a Twitter contest to give away two VIP tickets to the daylong concert, featuring a stellar line up including the Spin Doctors and Third Eye Blind, Eve 6, Switchfoot, and Twin Berlin. Contestants will be entered to win by simply tweeting their favorite environmentally friendly habit to @RCNBoston1.
Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Rice will also be on hand at the RCN booth from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. signing autographs and meeting with visitors to the booth. Jim Rice was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2009. Rice spent his entire 16-year career – 1974 through 1989 – with the Boston Red Sox as one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Rice proved he was one of the best American League sluggers by receiving eight All-Star Selections and placing in the top five MVP balloting six times.

EarthFest is a free event that showcases environmentally friendly products, groups and activities. Visitors to the RCN booth will have the opportunity to win promotional items and goodies, including sunglasses, lip balm and tee-shirts. RCN Twitter followers are encouraged to tweet their favorite environmentally friendly practices to @RCNBoston1 between now and Friday to be entered to win VIP tickets to the all day concert. Winners will be announced on Friday and concert tickets can be picked up at RCN EarthFest booth located on the Esplanade in the Tent Pavilion at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday May 16, 2012.
