4-Year-Old Leaves Behind Grandmother, Uncle in Natick

Andrew Stevens died at his Shrewsbury home on Friday.

 

Andrew Paul “Drew” Stevens, 4-year-old son of Charles A. and Susan E. (Costa) Stevens of Shrewsbury, died Friday, April 27, at his home after an illness.

Besides his parents, Andrew is survived by his grandmothers, Mary Stevens of West Boylston and Margaret Costa of Natick; his two uncles, Christopher Costa and his wife Donna of Virginia Beach, VA and Paul Costa of Natick, along with many cousins, great aunts and uncles, and many friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Andrew Stevens and Paul Costa.

Drew was a loving boy with a love and affection for others that was evident by his infectious smile and vivacious personality. He enjoyed playing with his friends, toys and going to his family’s summer home in Ogunquit, ME. Drew attended preschool at Lilliput, ECC and Parker Road Preschool. He also played in the Shrewsbury Youth Soccer League.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Tuesday, May 1, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. His funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, May 2 from the funeral home with a service at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial alongside his grandfather will follow in Hope Cemetery. The family request flowers be omitted and memorial contributions in Drew’s name made to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at UMass Medical Center, Development Office, 333 South St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or www.umassmed.org.

Drew’s family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of UMass Medical Center and especially those in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for the treatment and support that they provided.

As he journeys into outer space may the angles help to lead the way, may the prayers that our families make shine on ya soul and keep him safe,and everyone that has passed away is there to greet him as he pass the gates and he heads to the tunnels light I hope it leads to eternal life..
