5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 9

Buy diamonds, support the cheerleaders and the Natick Service Council today in Natick.

Our daily morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. On Sunday, the new Cheeseboy in the Natick Mall food court will donate 100 percent of earnings to the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. Customers can also make their own additional donations.

2. Looking to buy diamonds for that special someone this holiday season? Stewart Brandt of H. Brandt Jewelers in Natick recently returned from Antwerp, Belgium, the Diamond Capital of the World with some great finds to share with his customers. Buying directly from Antwerp, where a reported two-thirds of diamonds are traded, is rare for a small jewelry store, according to Brandt.

3. You can sign up to participate in the annual Jingle Bell Run to benefit the Natick Service Council.

4. Today is the deadline to fill a gift request for the Be a Santa to a Senior program, run by the Council on Aging, Natick Federal Savings Bank and Home Instead Senior Care. Seniors in need who who otherwise receive nothing for the holidays have requested items that can be dropped off at the Natick Federal Savings Bank today.

5. The Natick Junior Redmen cheerleading team will be participating in the National Cheerleading Championship in Florida today. Wish them luck and help them raise the money to help pay the $30,000 it's taking for them to get there. Click here for details.
