The design for the Natick High Redhawks logo has been finalized. Completed by Fassino Design (owner Diane Fassino is a Natick High graduate), the logo will go on the gym floor sometime in July.

"The students liked the 'N' and this hawk, so we put them together to form the final design," said Principal Rose Bertucci.

The logo was the subject of a vote of the student body earlier this month.

The Redhawks were selected in May as the new mascot.

So, Natick: what do you think of the logo?

Is that hawk gagging?
The Redmen name, while offensive to some, paid homage to the town's history. Things change. It's no longer the town I grew up in. Maybe they could rename the sports teams to acknowledge the town's present day image. How about the Natick Collection?

It will ALWAYS be the Natick Redmen. ONE guy from "South Natick" complains and the entire town is intimidated into changing the name. GImme a break!

Sounds like we should have been the Rednecks according to the posters above.

I am also a graduate of NHS, when we were the Redmen. I played many sports and was proud of the Redmen name. I would like to think that it never offended anyone. BUT, if there is a chance that it was offensive to an entire race of people, can't we all agree to do the right thing? I personally think the new name and logo are great. The name is meaningful, has a story behind it, and the current students like it. Isn't that enough? To all the graduates of decades ago....it's time to act like adults and let this one go. If a bunch of teenagers can accept this change, isn't it time we did too??

I'm being a little too snarky here. I loved the Redmen name, but I don't expect it to endure forever. But "hawks" is pretty over used. Milford HS has the Scarlet Hawks. NHS could have been the Tribe, which has some mystique, and remains true to the town's Native American roots.

its unfortunate--political correctness is the ultimate dishonesty--its a way of expression based on what you want others to think of you rather than what one really thinks/feels. whats disturbing is PC fits nicely with people that tend (90% of the population) to follow instead of thinking critically.
