Life Coach Helps You Reassess After Job Loss

Natick Life Coach Jessica Sweet helps give guidance to those who are unemployed or unhappy in their jobs with a step-by-step plan for how to achieve their goals.

It comes as no surprise that in tough economic times like these, Americans everywhere are losing their jobs, losing their passions and struggling to find a new life direction. But what many may not know is that there are professionals who can help you sort your thoughts, reignite your interests and set you on a path toward the life you always imagined for yourself. Natick Life Coach Jessica Sweet could be just the person you need.

After working as a licensed social worker for a number of years, Sweet took a few years off to give birth to and raise her two daughters. But about two years ago, she decided to return to the working world and create Wishingwell Consulting. Over time, her business has transformed into Wishingwell Life Coaching, which offers clients guidance in their professional lives and helps them stick to their goals.

“There are so many people out in the world that kind of walk through life half-dead and have a lot to contribute, but really aren’t passionate about anything, said Sweet, who donates 10 percent of her profits to charities. “There’s so much that needs to be done in the world; there are so many people in need, so many situations that could benefit from somebody caring about it.”

Her latest business vision focuses on using her own strengths as a licensed social worker in helping people to solve the problems.

“What I hope to do is help people re-engage with their lives to feel passionate about something, to find their calling and help them take steps to move towards that,” she said.

The difference between therapy and coaching, said Sweet, is that life coaching looks at the client’s current situation and how to shape the future, while therapy looks at the past and studies how it shaped the present.

In the initial session with a client, Sweet gets to know the person and the visions he or she has for life. During later sessions, she works with the clients to help them set goals. The amount of time spent with her depends on how far away the clients are from where they want to be.

With a lot of people out of jobs lately, Sweet says this makes her services even more valuable to those confused about what to do next.

“Maybe the opportunity in not having a job is that you have time to really take a moment in your life and take a breather and think about what it really is that you want to do next.”
