Hundreds of local residents gathered on Monday for the Greater Framingham Community Church's 26th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast.

The event celebrated Martin Luther King's birthday, the 150th anniversary of the emancipation proclamation and the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

Speakers at the event discussed character, civility and community and how Dr. Martin Luther King's teachings live on today.

Members of the Greater Framingham Community Church sang spiritual songs and joined in prayer during the event to honor Dr. King. Julian Johnson, a music student at Berklee, performed on piano.
