Patch Answers: Traffic on North Main Street
You have questions about traffic in Natick, and we have answers.
Last week, a reader asked us if we have information on the recent increase in traffic on North Main Street.
"It's been pretty bad lately. It's usually only like this around the holidays but now seems to be all the time," the reader said.
Natick Police Lt. Brian Lauzon provided us with some answers to why traffic is getting worse in town. He said a recent drop in gas prices means people can afford to drive more.
"People are venturing out more," Lauzon said. "We have very congested roads in Natick."

Gas isn't down that much surely. I've noticed traffic is bad on N.Main recently - I guess we've all got to start walking then!

Either that or get some hovercrafts to bypass it all. ;-)

I wonder if some people are using North Main Street to avoid the construction on Oak Street?

JUST THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH MORE TRAFFIC THEIR IS GOING TO BE ONCE THOSE 150+ UNITS ARE CONSTRUCTED AT THE NATICK PAPERBOARD SITE.
IT WILL THEN TAKE AN HOUR TO TRAVEL FROM RUTLEDGE ROAD (BLD 19) TO NATICK CENTER BETWEEN 3:00 PM & 5:00 PM! UGH!!!

The timing of the light at North Main and Evergreen is bad. There is a long wait between the red light in one direction and the green light in the other. Also, the side street green light lasts forever even when there are only one or two cars. Fixing this timing would not fix all of North Main Street. But it would improve the situation.
