Plymouth South Appeals Natick Playoff Win

The Red Hawks will move on to the Super Bowl after the MIAA denied Plymouth South's appeal.

Plymouth South lost an appeal to dispute their loss to the Natick Red Hawks citing the use of an illegal ball during Natick's 38-33 victory Saturday night, CBS news reports.

The football used by Natick for parts of the game was one not approved by the MIAA, and resulted in a penalty for the Red Hawks during the game.

"Before Tuesday night’s game, Natick asked for, and received, permission from game officials to use a different ball. The error was caught with about four minutes left in the game, and Natick was assessed a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty," the article said.

Natick will move on to the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

What example is that Coach Frye making for his players? If I was that AD I would be looking hard at that and not about footballs. Is he trying to teach them that when you loose, blame someone or something else?Whine and cry about it to every media outlet? This is after all REAL LIFE there are no "DO-OVERS"! So Mr Fry "PULL UP YOUR BIG BOY PANTIES" and deal with it! Preferably like an adult!

Really Mr. Goodwin, what example did the Natick coaches set for our children? That if you cheat you win and there are no consequences to your actions. It is plain and simple, Natick played with an illegal ball which gave them an advantage over Plymouth South. Plymouth played by the rules, Natick did not. So stop pointing fingers at our AD for defending his team. I am proud that he is sticking up for his team and what is right and what is clearly wrong. What I want to know is how can the the coaches and players from Natick walk out onto the field at Gillette with their heads held high knowing they got there by cheating. As far as I am concerned the real winners here were those boys from Plymouth South who are taking this loss with pride who can hold there heads up high knowing they got as far as they did by playing by the rules and playing their hearts out!

Mr. Goodwin, the bottom line is The referee allowed Natick to use that ball. they ndid not cheat. Do you REALLY think a different football would have made a difference in the outcome?? Let's be real and stop crying about it. Your making all this noisy nonsense because you lost.. Natick and your team played very well but in the end NATICK WON,get over it!!

If the ball didn't make a difference why didnt they use the official ball they were issued and why did they get a penalty for using it. The one issued was composite and gets slippery in wet conditions. The one Natick used is leather and smaller which makes it easy to grip and throw. Let's look at the facts here, the facts speak for themselves. I feel all the people telling Plymouth to "stop crying" about it didn't lose one of the biggest games of their high school careers to the one team out of eight that didn't use the right ball. Wake up, cheating is cheating no matter how you would like to spin it!

Remember it was the REFs call to use that ball!!! NOT NATICK. It was His decision...If there is anyone to blame it is HIM!! He is in charge of the rules of the game. That is HIS job and responsibility.

Poor excuse! The coaches knew the rules they were told the rules they were given the ball they were suppose to use and they didnt. 7 out of 8 teams used the right ball. Is Natick special? Again spin it the way you want they (Natick) were given an unfair advantage over Plymouth. So did Natick win? Hmmm I am not sure about that!!

If the situation were reversed and Plymouth South won under the same circumstances Natick used to win, I wonder what "Natick" would be saying?
