These Events In Town Will Keep You Running

Check out music through the decades with Daivd Polansky, Jesse Colin Young , a rock showdown at TCAN , parent's night out and the Boston Marathon.

 

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you or your kids will do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your weekend and some ideas for the kids too.


1.Concert: Music through the Decades with David Polansky

WHERE/WHEN: Morse Institute Library -Friday, April 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.  

WHY GO:  Come to a "Friday Extravaganza" at the library. This  program is suitable for all ages.David Polansky will bring you back through the decades of American history with music of G.M.Cohan, Irving Berlin, Fats Waller, George Gershwin, Hoagy Charmichael, to name a few- all performed by Mr. Polansky.The performance is enhanced by a backdrop of illustrations from Norman Rockwell!

Boston Marathon

WHERE/WHEN: Anywhere on Route 135, Monday April 18 from 10 to 3 p.m.

WHY GO: A great day to get out and pass the orange slices with the kids, high-five some weary runners, cheer on the mass of athletes that will run through Natick on their way to the finish line. Many businesses will be open -Morse's Tavern, among other restaurants along the way, will be offering music and  good eats all day!

3. Parent's Night Out

WHERE/WHEN: Cole Center- Saturday, April 16 at 5 p.m.

WHY GO: Sign your kids up for a night of games, crafts, movies and a concessions table of goodies (send 'em with $$)

while you go out on the town! The program fills up quickly...hurry up and pre-register.

PRICING: $16 /1st child, $10/ 2nd child, $5 each additional child in your immediate family.

Pizza and drink available for $2


4. Jesse Colin Young To Perform At TCAN

WHERE/WHEN: Center for Arts in Natick -Saturday April 16 at 8 p.m.

WHY GO:  "Critically acclaimed solo artist and lead singer of the legendary classic rock band The Youngbloods, Jesse Colin Young brings his elegant acoustic stylings to the TCAN stage. An accomplished musician in the rock, acoustic and Hawaiian arenas, Young has performed and toured with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young." TCAN

PRICING: $38 nonmembers, $35 members (Students/Seniors $1 discount)


5. Rock Off Main Street: Rock Showdown Semifinals

WHERE/WHEN: Center for Arts in Natick- Sunday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m.

WHY GO: Bands scheduled to perform include: Bosco from Lexington/Bedford, No Promises from Weston, Hudlin from Ayer/Maynard and Switcheroo from Needham/Newton/Wellesley. It is coming down to the wire for these performers this is the semifinal round for the Berklee College of Music Scholarship!
