You Know You're From Natick When...

Natick natives, tell us what makes you stand out from the folks who live here, but aren't from here.

A few months ago, groups popped up all over Facebook, attracting residents who could relate to each other when reading a variety of "facts" about people from specific cities and towns.

Most commonly known as "You Know You're From (City/Town) When..," the groups, including one for Natick, have evolved into a forum for natives and residents to share town-specific information and announcements. For example, Natick High's class of 1985 is using it to highlight the sale of Redmen t-shirts.

The Boston Globe ran a story online this week, compiling reader suggestions for "You know you are from Boston when..."

So, for fun, we asked readers on the Natick Patch Facebook page to fill in the blank: how do you know you're from Natick? We're sharing with you a few of the answers; add your own in the comments!

From Angela C.: If you still call The Natick Collection, The mall.

From Elizabeth F.: When you still wear the t-shirt, 'Natick Redmen.'

From Sandy A.: If you can see Doug Flutie and wave without asking for an autograph.

From Martin L.: You remember buying penny candy from Tilly or Lucy.

From Elizabeth F.: When you still buy from Tilly & Salvy's Bacon Street Farm.

You actually know that Boston Scientific used to be a brewery and might even still have a bottle or can.

If you don't like Doug Flutie because you've met him many time and don't think he's a good person. I have met him and he's an arrogant jerk.

I remember a Natick where you could block traffic on both sides of Main Street in the middle of downtown to shoot the breeze. If anyone behind you beeped you knew they were from out of town, because the townies all knew each other. The day that Grupposos Market closed the end of downtown Natick was imminent. That being said, if circumstances allowed I'd move home tomorrow.
