Being from Boston, there are things that are just bred into us, "Pahk The Cah", French Fries that taste better in the salt air of Castle Island, and LOVING the Red Sox! Ok the last one hasn't been to easy the last couple of years. But before you despair too much remember anything broken can ALWAYS be fixed! So here is one mans guide to fix the Sox;

Trade David Ortiz: Heresy to some people, but it needs to be done. Papi is long in the tooth and short on leadership ability. How can a man, who want on a rampage at his manager last year during a press conference about one RBI, ever be considered for or as a team leader. He is only signed thru the rest of the year on an arbitration deal and having a pretty good year at the plate. However trading him will eliminate some of the distractions he brings with both the press, and in the clubhouse. He should bring at least 1 good prospect in return.

Figure out what is wrong with Dustin Pedroia and fix it: Often called the heart of the team. He is suprisingly silent during the stretches where the team isnt going so well. If he is a leader then he needs to step into the void left by Jason Varitek, and start motivating players to play as he does. I know he's hurt this year, but where he can do the most good is in that clubhouse. Stand up Dustin and make sure you are heard from both on the field and elsewhere.

The Daniel Bard situation: He wants to start, and management wants him to close. I want to be the guy who sits around and gets paid at work. My Boss tells me I can't and get to work! A pitcher that can throw 100 m.p.h. but doesnt have a reliable third pitch isnt a starter! He solidifies a bullpen that is already surprisingly one of Baseball's best. This also frees Alfredo Aceves to assume a role in the rotation where he belongs.

 Josh Beckett: Ah what to say about one of the most polarizing memebers of this team. A warrior in 2007 and not much since. The beer and chicken captain and a man with all the personality of a fire hydrant. What contending team isn't looking for a starter on July 31st? Sorry Josh! Pack your bags, you're out! He should bring at least 1 major leaguer in return and a prospect. Also salary relief for the coming years!

Younger Players: Put them in! Right now there is no better move than throwing out players that still have nothing but an upside. Middlebrooks, Lavarnway, Iglesias, Nava and Kalish. Look I've already resigned myself to this not being our year. What's the harm in seeing if there is something down on the Farm? We all know Youkilis (See crying above) is soon gone. Middlebrooks is the future so he should not be held behind anymore. New players will create new interest, at least for me!

Gonzalez and Ellsbury: I am quite sure that Adrian Gonzalez will eventually figure things out. What I am not sure of is if that will be in Boston? A miserable finish last year, coupled with a miserable start this year equals a miserable player. Traded for only as a response to losing out on Mark Teixeira it may be wise to float rumors that he is available. We may be surprised by what a National League team would give for him, or he may just get motivated again and quit whining about playing late games. Oh Jacoby you paper bodied heart throb. A man who could tear a muscle just waking up, more fragile than an egg! Sometimes hard decisions need to be made, this is one too! Will he sign? Scott Boras is his agent and already discussing ridiculous numbers! Good Luck with that Scott! When your client has a glass will along with a glass body, the dollars will not be flowing. Jackie Bradley is on the way. Jacoby gets a pass for one more year and hopefully contributes as he did last year, at least when he gets over his latest bruised ego.

Tell all the players to quit complaining to the umpires- Somewhere around the 2004 season it became fashionable for the Olde Towne Team to start disputing almost every pitch that isn't offered at, but called a strike by the men in blue. Think that doesn't make those close calls go against you? You're kidding yourselves. Quit crying!

Bobby Valentine: Hey he's taken this incredibly injured team to 31-31. Along with having the second best bullpen in baseball what more could we want? Fear! I want a a manager that not only teaches players and manages the game well. I want a manager that players have a healthy respect for! (Fear) Someone who isnt afraid to bench a player in the middle of a game, or series. So Bobby you can finish the year but you definitely need improvement.

Ownership: Stop having the visual counting skills of Stevie Wonder! We can all see the empty seats! Ho-hum about this sell-out streak. WE DON"T CARE! Stop trying to sell us everything out of your ballpark like Crazy Eddie! I don't want a brick, or a bat (Unless I can use it on one of the players) or a blade of grass! Stay upstairs, out of the way and off TV! The only time I want to see an owner is when he is accepting a trophy!
