I am the lead personal trainer at Get In Shape for Women in Natick Center and am writing this periodic blog to share some transformation tips. Nothing brings me more fulfillment than helping individuals become healthy, fit and vital! I see this every day at our studio.
We all know that exercise and eating right are key components to wellness, but it's the crucial new behaviors, habits and lifestyle changes that are key to healthy and lasting transformation. How does transformation begin?
Firstly, you must make transformation your priority and find your own personal motivator! Whether it is a wedding, bathing suit season, smaller pant size, a feeling of greater confidence or energy, or even the desire to merely avoid negative feelings about yourself, a goal can impart positive energy, motivation and thrust. What motivates YOU? Knowing and remembering what motivates you can help at the times you are veering off course.
Secondly, schedule in your workout or food plan in advance. Most people take out their planners for the day and THEN “try” to "find time" to exercise or eat right. Or open the fridge to see what is available in the moment. Many people find that actually making an appointment with themselves ahead of time and respecting it as fully as if it is with someone/thing else works best as does taking the time to plan out what you will be eating. If you believe you have time to reach your important goals, you will find it!
Thirdly, consider this: how many times have you told yourself, "Oh, I was thinking about trying that," or, "I heard that works, maybe I should give it a go?"
The word trying and maybe merely considers action. Convert ‘trying’ and ‘maybe ‘into action by noticing the words you are using in your head and replace them with committed action words. “I am going to begin exercising” or “I will give that plan a go” is way more empowering and mobilizing.
