The library isn't just for books anymore. Below are just five of the suggested uses of the Morse Institute and Bacon Free libraries. 1) Find and reserve museum passes. 2) Read magazines and journals online. From the comfort of your own home. 3) Find ways to involve your children in the library scene. 4) Doing research? Ask your librarian a question online. 5) Find out some local history.
October is Teen Read Month, so what better way to celebrate than to reacquaint yourselves with the newly reorganized Young Adult Room at the Morse Library. All teen fiction and paperbacks are alphabetized together on the shelves, although paperbacks only have the author's initial on a binder sticker. Graphic novels are in a separate section, just to the left of the door. CDs and summer reading are just outside the room. When in doubt, ask the Reference Desk.
Take advantage of the library passes to myriad locations, thanks to the funding from the Friends of the Morse Institute Library. Reservations may be made online and passes may be picked up the day before the day or up until noon the day of. If you get a non-paper pass, they must be returned by 10 a.m. the next day or you will be fined. Eligibility includes: Valid Minuteman Library Card; One pass per family, per day; Three passes per family, per two-week period; and One pass per family during school vacation weeks.
The Morse Instuitute Library has two book groups: one in the morning and one in the evening. The morning group meets next on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., in Study Room 1A, First Floor. On the agenda is a discussion on Juliet, by Anne Fortier. The evening group meets next on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m., in the Community Room. The book on its reading list is The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. Copies of both books are available at the Circulation Desk.
