Flags at Half-Staff in Natick to Honor Navy Yard Shooting Victims

Here are 5 things to know today in Natick.

1. In accordance with President Barack Obama’s proclamation, Governor Deval L. Patrick has ordered the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings effective immediately until sunset on Friday, September 20, 2013 as a mark of respect for the victims of the violence perpetrated at the Washington Navy Yard on September 16, 2013.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

  • The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls
  • Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings
  • All state military installations

2. The Board of Selectmen will conduct a public hearing on Monday, September 23, 2013, 7:00 p.m., Natick Town Hall, 13 East Central Street, Natick, MA on the request to name the gym in the Community Senior Center on East Central Street, Natick in honor of former Community Services Director Richard Cugini.

Anyone wishing to be heard on this matter is asked to attend the meeting at the date and time mentioned above.                                        

3. The Board of Selectmen will conduct a public hearing on Monday, September 23, 2013 7:00 p.m., Natick Town Hall, 13 East Central Street, Natick, MA on the request to dedicate the flagpole in front of the Community Senior Center on East Central in honor of O.B. Hill in recognition of his dedication to the community and service to the country.

Anyone wishing to be heard on this matter is asked to attend the meeting at the date and time mentioned above.
