Help Natick Create a Sept. 11 Memorial

As Natick and the rest of America moves forward in the post-9-11 world town leaders and emergency responders are looking to make sure visitors to the downtown area never forget.

That's where the Natick 9-11 Memorial Committee comes in. The committee has plans to create a memorial near the Police and Fire Headquarters on East Central Street.

"We were fortunate enough to have been gifted with a piece of steel from one of the World Trade Center Towers," the committee said online. "We have decided to honor not only the lives lost, but the survivors and heroes that emerged in the aftermath of that devastating tragedy."

The memorial will feature a sundial with the date and times that two airplanes struck the twin towers, a garden of reflection and a bench along with the piece of steel from Ground Zero.

Donations are being collected now to help fund the project. Any amount will be accepted and for donations of $125 or more the donors can have a personalized paver included in the memorial.
