Last week Girl Scout Troop 65155, who are students are Memorial Elementary School, made the donation at Massachusetts State Police Headquarters in Framingham after collecting them for nearly two months.

The following was submitted by the Massachusetts State Police:

On Thursday, Colonel Timothy P. Alben  accepted a donation of stuffed animal toys from Project Smile. The stuffed animals will be distributed to road troopers to be given to children to help comfort them at motor vehicle crashes and other traumatic events to which State Police respond.

Project Smile’s Executive Director Catherine Piscane made the donation at the Massachusetts State Police Headquarters, located at 470 Worcester Road, Framingham. This has been her third donation. She was accompanied by Girl Scout Troop 65155, who attend Natick Memorial Elementary School. The brownies collected stuffed animals for close to two months and then donated them to Project Smile. The girls first met with Colonel Alben to drop off the boxes and were then given a tour of State Police General Headquarters. Twelve boxes of stuffed animals were donated and will be distributed to troopers across the state including troopers working in Logan Airport who often come into contact with families traveling with small children.

Project Smile is a non-profit organization which donates new and previously owned stuffed animals, coloring books/crayons, small toys and children’s reading books for police officers, fire fighters and paramedics to give to children. The goal of Project Smile is to provide all emergency responders throughout New England with a continual supply of comfort items to help ease the pain and fear of traumatized children.

The Massachusetts State Police are honored by the opportunity to partner with this vital charitable organization.
