Natick Native Patrick Sibley Killed in Train Accident

The Natick Native died at 21 years old.

Patrick Sibley, a Natick Native and 21-year-old senior at George Mason University was killed Sunday after being hit by an Orange Line Metro train, according to WJLA ABC News.

In a release from George Mason University, Sibley was praised for his performance on the volleyball court where he earned All-Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) first team honors. He played with his older brother Shaun this past season and was an integrative studies major with a concentration in advertising. But it was his behavior overall that was highlighted by those remembering him.

“Patrick demanded the best of himself in everything he did, and he brought the best out of everyone around him," said David Lucas, a senior on the volleyball team in the release. "Every single one of his teammates considered him a dear friend. He always put those around him first, and he had a loving heart that will never be equaled nor forgotten."

Metro officials said Sibley was hit shortly before 2 a.m. while on the tracks and that they are still investigating the cause of the accident, according to the Washington Post.
