On May 27, two students from the Natick High School InvenTeam met President Obama and attended the White House Science Fair.
Students Katelyn Sweeney (Senior) and Olivia Van Amsterdam (Junior) were invited to attend and will be honored as grant recipients of the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam initiative.
Lemelson-MIT Program is a Cambridge-based nonprofit dedicated to celebrating invention and inspiring youth. The Natick High School InvenTeam received a 2012-2013 grant from Lemelson-MIT to pursue their invention project - a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for ice search and rescue dive teams.
This year’s White House Science Fair celebrated girls in STEM. Katelyn and Olivia are inspirational local students exemplifying success in science. The Natick High School InvenTeam representatives were also be joined by InvenTeam members from Newton North High School at the White House.
