20th Annual Fountain Street Open Studios This Weekend

More than 40 artists will participate this weekend. Hours are Friday night, April 4 from 5:30 to 9 and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Want a new unique, hand-crafted piece of jewelry for spring?

Then, the place to be this weekend is the 20th Annual Fountain Street Open Studios.

The artists at the studios open their doors twice a year - once in the spring and again in December for the holiday season.

Attendees will discover painting, pottery, photography, sculpture, prints, watercolor, hand crafted-jewelry, textile arts, glassware and mixed media.

More than 40 artists will participate this weekend. Hours are Friday night, April 4 from 5:30 to 9 and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no admission charge.

On Friday night only, award-winning photographer and publisher Lynne Damianos will be hosting two authors for book signings in her fourth floor east studio.

Appearing in Civil War costume will be Framingham historican Fred Wallace to discuss his latest book A Most Rash but Magnificent Charge about the battle of Antietam and General George H. Gordon.

Author Tom Ellis will sign copies of his book Framingham’s Civil War Service: A History and Roster.

Several artists will hold demonstrations in their studios, including portrait artists Kathleen Bryce and Martha Little Fuentes. Call 508-345-0681 to arrange a sitting.

In the bottom level of the building, Fountain Street Fine Art gallery, will hold a special 8X8 gallery show, in which each piece exhibited is available for purchase at $150. Several of those pieces are attached to this report.

This year, there will be an exhibition of works by the Framingham State University Art Club.

On Saturday afternoon, Chocolate Therapy will bring their delicious goodies.

During the weekend, the Massachusetts Treasury Unclaimed Property Office will be on hand to maybe find you additional cash to purchase more art.
