Linsky and Peisch Applaud MBTA Decision to Delay Framingham/Worcester Line Changes

Representatives David Linsky (D-Natick) and Alice Peisch (D-Wellesley) today applauded the MBTA’s decision to indefinitely delay the changes to the Framingham/ Worcester Commuter Rail Line that reduced service to Natick and Wellesley stops during peak service hours. 

“This announcement is a major victory for Natick and Wellesley riders,” said Representative Linsky.  “The proposed new schedule was completely unacceptable for riders who get on and off at Natick Center.  I am pleased that our concerns were taken seriously and I look forward to working with the MBTA to create a train schedule that does not reduce service at any station during peak hours.”

“I appreciate the MBTA’s quick response to our concerns related to the disproportionate negative impact on commuters from the Wellesley, Natick, and Newton areas,” said Representative Peisch. “The proposed new schedule left Wellesley riders with significantly reduced options for those trying to arrive on time for work or leave Boston during peak commuting hours. I look forward to developing a schedule in conjunction with the MBTA that leaves no commuter along the Framingham/Worcester line with fewer options than they currently have today.”

The new schedule was to be put into effect on Monday, January 27, 2014 and included numerous changes including a significant reduction in stops in Natick Center and Wellesley during rush hour.   After hearing from numerous riders who would have been adversely affected by the new schedule, Representatives Linsky and Peisch, as well as other members of the MetroWest Legislative Caucus, expressed their concerns and dissatisfaction with the new schedule to the MBTA.
