MBTA SEEKS COSTUMER INPUT FOR EXPANDED COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE

BOSTON—State Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority plans to increase service on the Framingham/Worcester Line this fall and would like public input for train times on the expanded schedule.   The line is currently undergoing significant changes as the state completes the transition from CSX ownership to full MBTA control.

“This is great news for the communities served by the Framingham/Worcester line,” said Representative Linsky.  “More frequent service will enhance customer satisfaction, encourage ridership, and spur economic development.”

With 13,000 passengers utilizing the Framingham/Worcester Line every weekday, this expansion will build on the additional peak train departures introduced last fall and spring. The MBTA is undertaking significant improvements to the commuter rail service, including track and dispatch system upgrades, the completed construction of Yawkey Station, and the procurement of new trains and bi-level coaches.  The MBTA also plans to schedule peak hour express service at stations that experience high demand and offer sufficient car and bicycle parking.
