How Was The DPW Plowing In Natick?

Patch began asking Natick residents on Facebook how they rate the job the Natick Department of Public Works did with plowing, and those who responded felt they did a very good job.

On the Natick Patch Facebook Page, we asked how you felt about the Natick DPW's job plowing the streets in town.

We explained that on a scale of 1-10, 1 means the worst possible job and 10 meaning that Natick has the best DPW in metrowest.

Taking that into account, here's the response we got, with the overall numbers being very favorable for the DPW.

Elaine Mosgofian and Nicole Keefe Mason both responded that the DPW deserved somewhere between an 8 and a 10.

Valerie Irvine Shealer said she gave the DPW a 9, while Pearl Northrop placed them in a 7-9 range.

A couple of residents wrote in comments, including Joe Kiggen, who wrote, "Everyone is doing a great job as always."

Monica DeBiase wrote, "Excellent. I was impressed."

Robert Dunlop responded that he thought the DPW deserved a 4.

What do you think? How good a job did the DPW do plowing the streets of Natick? Tell us in the comments section below.

If they ever plow my street I will let you know. Sunday morning and still no sight of them.

They did a first pass but they didn't do a thorough enough job to where we can get out. I called DPW last night and no answer, but was able to get through this morning. I hope they come soon because we have a wedding to attend this afternoon and we can't get out.

While people will complain. I think they did a great job and continue to do so. We are talking one of the top 10 storms of all time here people. Anyone that thought this would all be cleaned up n 24 hours is crazy. Once again they did a great job like they do every storm!

On the main streets they have done a commendable job, on the side streets not so well -

One of my Natick friends explains that "Natick" is the Native American word for "Unplowed roads"

I have always thought that they do a fine job and I'd give them a 10.

I think that they did a great job, working for 24 hours (or more), all through the night.

I ventured out this afternoon and I think they did a great job! Thanks to them for their hard work!

I am sure they are doing the best job they can. Thanks for your hard work.

1 is not low enough!! There needs to be a ZERO. Our street is a dead end st. that has some town owned property just before the houses begin on it and the town comes down and plows out the unused town property and leaves the 4 houses - all with seniors ranging from 60s to 80s not plowed!!!!!! This is a regular event here. It is unfathomable why they would spend the time on unused property and ignore several life-long senior residents well being. BTW, phoned in complaints (answered by a real person) get nothing but lip service.

Bob, Is it a private street? If so no matter what age the owners need to pitch in and pay to have it plowed. If not disregard my question and comment. There

I just wish that the DPW would use a little more common sense. I understand that they want to get the main roads done first. I watched plows come down Highland street 3-4 times and take a right on Middle street just before the dead end section of Highland. Would it be to much to ask that they make one pass down my section? A front end loader finally showed up at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon. He did a nice job clearing the street. However when faced with the choice of where to put the snow, did he dump it on the vacant lot across from me or did he dump it on my front lawn? If you guessed front lawn, you win. Like I said at the beginning, a little common sense would be nice.

Did they plow the bridge on Marion Street?
Robert Rosen February 12, 2013 at 03:19 AM
Thanks for the question. The Marion Street bridge is closed right now as it's been deemed unsafe.

The Natick DPW always do a great job. They work endless hours with little or no slept, rest or food until the work is complete. Thanks guys for a job well done in many weather extremes

The DPW has no respect for your property. I have about twenty pounds of tar at the end of my driveway and I am missing part of my front lawn. When they don't have a clue they plow the snow up on my lawn . Even when there is snow on the ground you can tell this is not part of the road.

I hope this was a joke, if not, are you married to one of them? Geesh. They are mediocre at best. They don't work endless hours, they are town workers and they "pace" themselves.
