Nearly 13 Percent of Natick Still Without Power

The number is down, though, from yesterday.

NStar is reporting that 2,108 of Natick's 16,297 electric customers remained without power as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Along with the company's 3,000 employees, 1,200 contracted workers from as far away as Texas, the Midwest and Washington State are working to restore the outages.

The company is advising customers to be prepared for prolonged power outages.

Customers whose electric service is affected by the storm should report it by using NStar's "Report an Outage" tool or by calling 800-592-2000.

Are you without power? Do you have a generator? How is your food holding up?

Live power lines down in our front yard, and a large tree across our road, 16 ivy Lane and NStar will not even give us an estimate of when they will come.

Live on Braemore rd. Still no power! Went off at 2pm yesterday. Had to keep the car running lastnight and hooked our mini inverter to an extension cord running back to house just so we could charge phones/ and a lamp in the living room. Thankfully none of our trees came down. This waiting game sucks tho.

I too called NSTAR they would not even comment on if they has trucks in the area or not. Absolutely no information at all! I drove all around my surrounding area and don't see any downed lines so I have no idea why the power is out.

Regina, sometimes it's a transformer that blows - I know that's what happened when I lost power in my town, Mendon. There were no lines down in my neighborhood, either. Not sure if that was the case with you, but it's possible.

I'm curious: what's everyone's tolerance for power outages? With widespread outages such as this, what do you feel is a reasonable amount of time for utility companies to restore power?

Thanks Danielle!

Update: those still without power should have it restored by the end of tomorrow. Let's hope it's sooner! http://natick.patch.com/articles/nstar-makes-progress-overnight-provides-restoration-estimates
