"BESA: The Promise" - An Interfaith Film Event

BESA: The Promise  -  an interfaith film event

Please join us on Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 pm  for the screening of an extraordinary film at the Islamic Center of Boston, 126 Boston Post Rd. in Wayland.

“Besa”  is a profound and riveting drama about the Muslim men and women of Albania who saved the lives of nearly 2,000 Jews during the Holocaust. The word, besa, is part of that nation’s ancient code of honor – an unbreakable vow to protect those in need – and it united all Albanians in refusing to collaborate with the Nazis.  It is a story that bridges generations and religions, uniting fathers and sons, Muslims and Jews.

Johanna Neumann, whose family was hidden by the Albanians and who is featured in this remarkable film, will be with us. A panel discussion will follow the screening.

This event is co-sponsored by Temple Shir Tikva, the Islamic Center of Boston and the Weston-Wayland Interfaith Action Group.  It is open to the public and free of charge. For more information, please contact Joyce Pastor at jfpastor@yahoo.com
