Broken Trust: Responding to Elder Financial Abuse and Exploitation
Presented by W. Ladd Bodem, Certified
Senior Adviser and President, Bay State Senior Care,
Inc.
The most common crime perpetrated
against people 65 years of age and older in the U.S. is financial abuse. A 2009 study by the National Center on
Elder Abuse showed this monetary exploitation was committed by family members
much of the time, and, for just a 3-month period studied in 2010, an estimated $2.9
billion was stolen. Learn about detection methods, reporting abuse and prevention
tips in this presentation illustrating some common signs – and successful solutions.
