"Music in the Air: Incorporating Musical Concepts in the Early Childhood Classroom" A TECPA Program Presented by Margo Whitt, Director of Prelude Preschool and Kindergarten of the Arts

Teachers do not need to have a background in music to help children develop essential musical skills through song and dance. This workshop presents joyful, interactive musical activities, creative movement, and instrument play that participants can incorporate into the everyday aspects of their classrooms. We will explore using multicultural musical repertoire and percussion instruments to develop steady beat, and learn about the musical concepts of dynamics, tempo, rhythm, melody, and improvisation. This lively approach to early childhood musical education is both fun and inspiring.

In addition to her role as Director of the Prelude Preschool and Kindergarten of the Arts, Margo Whitt is a member of the Early Childhood faculty at the Community Music School of Springfield and an Early Childhood Adjunct Professor at Asnuntuck Community College. We are excited to welcome Ms. Whitt to share her expertise with us!

The Early Childhood Professional Association (TECPA)'s  Professional Development Programs are designed specifically to meet the needs of early childhood and elementary educators, afterschool professionals, program administrators, and family childcare providers.

TECPA events include a light dinner at 6:00 pm with program running from 6:30-8:30. Cost per person is $25.00 and participants may register online to attend.
