Suzanne Vega

“…an inviolable purity of heart tinged with mystery and a faraway melancholy…distills the sensibility of a diarist warily scrutinizing the world around her with a journalist’s eye.” – New York Times

Grammy winner Suzanne Vega led the folk revival of the 80s with her platinum-selling eponymous debut album, one of Rolling Stonemagazine’s top 100 albums of the decade. A true artist, Vega is a master at crafting song lyrics and melodies to inspire and connect. With early hits like “Tom’s Diner” and “Luka,” Vega shaped an entire generation of singer-songwriters; with her “Close-Up” series, which re-records her catalogue in an intimate and stripped down way, she continues to reinvent and expose new power in each of her songs.

Tales From the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles, her 2014 release and the first studio album of new material in seven years from the singer/songwriter. Tales From the Realm... features 10 new songs, each telling a story that has to do with the material world and the world of the spirit and how they intersect. Suzanne spent the past few years writing and recording these new gems on the road, recording portions in Chicago, London, Prague, LA and New York City, and Kyserike Station, an old train station in upstate New York. Tracking for the album took place mostly at the Clubhouse Studios in Rhinebeck, and the album was mixed by Kevin Killen, who has worked with Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
