Fresh Fish shares at Natick Community Organic Farm

Interested in the freshest, locally caught fish around?  Any fresher and you would have to catch it yourself.  Cape Ann Fresh Catch (CAFC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new pick up site at Natick Community Organic Farm!

Cape Ann Fresh Catch is a non-profit community supported fishery in partnership with the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association. In a time when most of the fish you buy at the store is from thousands of miles away and has been frozen for days, it doesn’t make sense to ignore the amazing fish that you can buy from local fisheries. Members of our program buy shares of fresh fish for a season and pick them up once a week at a specific delivery site. The fish that we deliver is the freshest fish provided by local Gloucester fishermen.

Along with unparalleled freshness and flavor, this fish also comes with an added benefit: peace of mind.  While digging into your locally caught dinner, you can pat yourself on the back for being green and supporting the local economy. The structure of the program allows CAFC to provide local fishermen with a fair, higher-than-average price for their catch and opens up new markets for some of the lesser-known species of the northwest Atlantic.

Over the course of our program’s history, CAFC has been pleased to provide its share-members with varieties such as blue fish, hake, monktail, pollock, skate, whiting, and red fish, as well as staples like cod, haddock and flounder.  Because of our simple and direct boat-to-consumer model, the fish is simply the freshest that you can come by- completely unprocessed and never frozen.  CAFC seafood is good for the local economy, good for the environment, and good for you!

It is our wish to start a new site at Natick Community Organic Farm! This season started Monday July 22 and go until Monday the 26thof August. The pick-up time for members would be Mondays from 4-6 pm. Shareholders can pick up either whole fish or fish fillets. The price for a whole fish share (3-5lbs) is $22 per week and the price for a fillet share (2 lbs) is $26 per week. If you are interested in the program and would like to pick up at Natick Community Organic Farm, please send an email to Natick@capeannfreshcatch.org!
