Memorial Elementary School Breaks Ground on New Playground

Students may be able to use the new features next week.

The Memorial School playground was closed in September after it was deemed unsafe by Principal Matthew Joseph.

After FINCOM approved $100,000 to help improve the dilapidated site, volunteers chipped in to tear the old features to keep costs down.

On Dec. 4, Joseph announced the school broke ground on the new playground, which features see-saws, horizontal bars, and more.

A worker from Forte Landscape and Construction, which is rebuidling the playground, said the construction should be completed by the end of the week, and the playground will be ready for use by mid next week, if the weather cooperates.
