Terrific Service Opportunities: Heal the Earth, Give Back to the Community, Make New Friends

Dear Friends, This fall there are several terrific Service Opportunities here in Natick.  You'll be glad you joined us.  Renew and make new friends; heal our earth, give back to the community.  Simple as that. • Sat., 10/5, Dug Pond Clean-up Chapter 8, 9 am - Noon (our 8th effort in the last two years to restore the island and shoreline).  Co-sponsored by the The Natick HS Earth Club and Lake Cochituate Watershed Council - Big Heart Little Feet.  Meet at the Donahue Boat Landing.  Both on the water and shoreline cleaning.  Bring a canoe or kayak if you have one.  But we have several extras.   • Sat., 10/19, Our Fourth Annual Natick Trails Day, 9 am - 3 pm.  Jointly organized by the Natick Town Forest Committee and the Natick Trails Maintenance Committee.  Park at Mathworks Field parking area.  Take a short 10 min. walk to the Oak St. Trailhead and proceed to the White Pine Cathedral Triangle .4 mile in from the Kiosk.  Join us for an hour or two, or the whole day.   • Sat., 11/16, Coolidge Hill Summit Final Sweep.  Over the past three years this represents our 10th effort to clear the glorious Coolidge Hill Summit of broken glass.  We've got about 90 % of it.  Just a little more to go.  It's Natick's only little "bald top."  A sacred place. • Sat., 11/23, Service Project - Raking Leaves, 9 am - Noon, jointly organized by the Natick Housing Authority and Lake Cochituate Watershed Council - Big Heart Little Feet.  Meet at the parking circle off Mill St. at the West Hill Park Ballfield.  Bring a leaf rake if you have one; but we have extras.        Email me (Pat) (or call: 508-740-9949) and I'll send more information, flyers, maps, etc.  Join us if you can.  Check Facebook and my blog on the Natick Patch.  We're bringing our community together, raising awareness, and inspiring good work.  --Pat
