Francis Foley, Gone at 90

Francis J. Foley, age 90, a former Natick resident, died on October 24, 2012, at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham.

Born in Worcester on August 5, 1922, he was the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Fullen) Foley, he was raised in Natick by his mother’s sister and her husband, James and Isabella Fair. Francis was a 1940 graduate of Natick High School. He attended Georgetown University for just over two years when he was called to serve with the Army during World War II. Stationed in the European Theatre, he saw action in the Rhineland and Central Europe as an anti tank gunner. When he returned to the states he worked toward completing his Bachelor’s Degree at Boston University.

Francis married and settled in Natick where he worked in sales with Branch Motor Express. During his employment he had the satisfaction of seeing the company grow considerably with the help of his sales team. Francis moved to Greenfield in 1971 where he was employed with BETE Fog Nozzle, Inc. for the next thirty years. A longtime friend of Bill W., Francis devoted much of his time helping others. He enjoyed participating in the Sages and Seekers program at Dana Hall and was an avid golfer for many years.

He is survived by four sons, James C. Foley and his wife Carol of Bellingham, Daniel R. Foley and his wife Claudia of Vienna, ME, Paul F. Foley and his wife Maria of Coronado, CA, and Richard W. Foley of Seward, AK; three daughters, Barbara Larson and her husband Corbit of Framingham, Martha Dutton Harris and her husband Clarke of North Andover, and Janet Pollock and her husband Matthew of Berkley; a sister, Elvara McIver and her husband Donald of Natick; and his beloved grand- children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Foley and Elizabeth Hoey.

He was buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Francis’ name to the Pine Street Inn, 444 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118, would be appreciated.
