William J. McMullen of Newton and formerly of Needham died on Dec. 2 at the age of 64.
He graduated from Newton High School and worked as a mason for many years after studying masonry at Wentworth Institute. He was appointed to the Natick Fire Department, where he worked as an EMT, according to an obituary on the Joyce Funeral Home website.
He is father of Marc McMullen of Needham and Lesley Fier and her husband, David, of Staten Island, N.Y.; brother of Sr. Joyce McMullen, S.N.D. of Dorchester and also leaves his former spouse, Lois McMullen, of Needham and many cousins and close friends. He was also the brother of the late Martha McMullen.

Calling hours will be in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20) in Waltham, on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Bernard's Church, 1523 Washington St. in Newton, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
