Because the poll is not scientific, the winner is not determined by votes alone, but also comments, reviews and the local editor's discretion as stated in our original post.

Villari's, open in the area since 1974, has had more than 15 million students participate in its karate, kickboxing and tai chi classes for both children and adults.

"I think it's awesome, it's a great honor," said Mark Lehman, owner and instructor at Natick Villari's. "We try to instill character and leadership in all the kids; and the adults, we try to have them work out and build a sweat up."

The following is a message from Lehman to his supporters:

Thank you to all the students, parents and families that helped make Villari's Martial Arts the best gym in Natick! Without the help of all the black belt instructors and instructor assistants, we would not have been able to receive this award.  Since 1974, the Villari's team of instructors has instilled character and leadership in our students.

Villari’s is very active in the community, helping to collect food for the Natick Food Pantry. Also, we have assembled a team for Relay For Life.

The adult students enjoy working out with each other in a friendly environment and receiving a good workout with our certified instructors.

The instructors are all CPR-trained as well.

This is why I think we won the award.
