UPDATE: Arrest Made in Sunday Bank Robbery on Natick/Wellesley Line

UPDATE: The suspect, Brian Kalil, had secreted and barricaded himself in the eves of the attic and refused to come out. Kalil’s refusal to surrender for several hours caused significant disruption to the Quincy neighborhood. After several other methods were used to attempt to get him to surrender, a canine was introduced to assist in extracting him from the eves.

He was taken into custody at approximately 10:45 p.m. and removed from the residence. Per agency protocol, he was transported to the Quincy Medical Center for evaluation. Once he was released from the hospital, he was brought to Wellesley Police Department where he was processed and held on $100,000 bail. He will be arraigned at Dedham District Court today, Friday, Dec. 20.

This arrest came the same day the Needham TD Bank was robbed in much the same manner. However, police do not suspect him to be the same bank robber.

A suspect in Sunday's TD Bank North robbery on the Natick/Wellesley line was arrested Thursday at 1:54 p.m.

Investigators from the Wellesley Police Department in conjunction with the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, Massachusetts State Police and Norfolk County Anti-Crime Task Force identified the suspect as Brian Kalil of Quincy.

Investigators from the Wellesley Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Kalil, who was charged with unarmed robbery and larceny over $250.

Investigators determined that he was present at the residence and attempted to make contact with him utilizing various methods of communication. Kalil was not responsive to the attempts investigators made to have him surrender to authorities. Investigators determined that he was alone in the residence, and possibly had a firearm.

Members of the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council’s tactical unit along with members of the Quincy Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Norfolk County Anti-Crime Task Force and FBI Bank Robbery Task Force agents utilized tactical maneuvers to remove Kalil from the residence.

Kalil was taken into custody. After being removed from the residence, he was transported to an area hospital for evaluation per agency protocol. 

Once he is released from the hospital he will be brought to the Wellesley Police Department where he will be processed and then subsequently arraigned at the Dedham District Court.

There were no injuries reported at the conclusion of the incident.

On Sunday, the area was searched by several Wellesley police officers, as well as officers from the Natick Police and the State Police.
