Natick Students Test Higher Than State Average

SAT scores increased for Natick students in the past year, scoring higher than state averages in every category.

Natick students surpassed state averages in every category of the 2012 SAT, according to boston.com.

"The 284 Natick students who took the SATs this year achieved scores of 535 in critical reading, 563 in math, and 531 in writing. The statewide average is 506 for reading, 523 for math, and 500 for writing," the article said.

Massachusetts' SAT scores have increased by 12 points in the past decade with overall participation increasing as well, according to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Natick's overall scores in writing and math increased since last year's average, but fell slightly in reading, the article said.

What? Town's taxes are much higher than State's average, we have the Mall and many other business that pay a lot, and our schools are just above average?

I have two kids who attended school in Natick. My daughter graduated in the Spring and was accepted to every one of the ten Massachusetts colleges she applied to. She is taking Computer Science. My son is still in the High School and scored nearly perfect on the Physics MCAS this Spring. Their teachers have all been great with kids and well educated. Except for a few minor issues in nearly 15 years, I have the greatest respect for our school system.
