An employee working on utilities in Natick was killed on Feb. 4, and another one injured, after a water main break at the intersection of West Street and Redmen Drive, according to WCVB-TV and WBZ-TV

While working in the area, a backhoe reportedly pinned one of the workers; another was hit by a car. One employee later died at the hospital; another is being treated.

Seriously, this happened after 7 p.m. Tuesday night and 12 hours later all The Patch can tell us is to go read the report by the TV station. Guess, all the Patch sites have no reporting now. Why should we even come to the Patch for new if you are going to tell us to go elsewhere for the news. I really did not want to go back to the local daily, but I may have no choice, with reports like this!

This is such a sad story. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family. Ever since moving to Natick in 2007 I have been beyond amazed at the incredible work that the Natick DPW does in particular compared to other towns I've lived in. They always stay ahead of the curve & work outside in frigid temperatures. You forget how dangerous this work is.

Does anyone who writes for the Natick Patch actually live in Natick?? Because Water Street is in South Natick, miles away from where this happened. And anyone who grew up here would know that it is REDMEN Drive, not Redman. Sadly, this tragic accident occurred on WEST Street, not Water.

Thanks for the correction MJ.
