Natick Selectmen Unanimously Vote to Reappoint Town Manager

Martha White's contract was to expire June 30, 2014.

Just prior to the strike of midnight, Natick's Board of Selectmen opted to reappoint Town Manager Martha White for another three-year term.

White's contract is set to expire June 30, and the Board had to notify her six months in advance of their decision.

"The financial situation of the town has never been better," Selectman Charles Hughes said.

Chair Carol Gloff said White was asked to do a self assessment and that despite doing a very good job the past three years, agreed there is room for improvement.

"She is quick to give credit to other (department heads) and she makes them feel wanted," Gloff said.

The reappointment is subject to successful contract negotiations.

“I think this community is in much better shape now than it was when Ms. White came on board,” Selectman Rick Jennett said.

White said she appreciated the support of the Board.

“Natick is a wonderful place to work and with so many talented people," she said. "I'm proud to be a part of that."
