'Open Minds' as Natick Continues Search for Deputy Town Administrator

Town will interview 9 candidates later this month.

Town Administrator Martha White told the Board of Selectmen on Oct. 7 that nine out of 30 applicants for the deputy town administrator position are among the finalists.

The round of interviews won't be completed until later this month, she said, adding "we're leaving our minds open to the candidate who best fills the need."

"We believe our approach is consistent with the peronnel board's recommendation of one position to two combined positions for flexibility," she said. "We're looking at the best qualities to bring to the community."

"We'll be able to get more done and serve the people better," Vice Chair Joshua Ostroff said of the two-position plan. "I think we take for granted how much work needs to be done. Important stuff doesn’t get done as quickly."

According to the Town of Natick website, the salary range is $100,000 to $145,000.

Responsibilities include establishing department budgets, and overseeing the assessing, comptroller and treasurer/collector offices. Someone with a  master’s degree is preferred and at least 10 years experience in the public sector.
