Resident Wants Safer Street After Car Collides With His Son

A Jennings Pond Road resident is asking Natick's Board of Selectmen for help in making a street safer after an accident involving a car and his son.

Bryan McNally of 12 Jennings Pond Road addressed the Board during its Sept. 23 meeting, saying sight lines are needed on Arbor Circle so motorists have a better visual of the walkway between that road and Pauline Drive.

"My reason is because my son (14) came down on a bike and was hit by a car that was coming down the street," he said. "If that person was not going so slow it would have been devastating. I don’t want that to happen to anyone."

Dave Hamilton, a Pauline Drive resident, said the neighborhood did make a line at one point but was criticized by the town for it.

One thought McNally had was to bring back shrubbery that had been taken down.

But Town Administrator Martha White said that is not an easy solution.

"We’ve looked at this a number of times, and it's a difficult challenge," she said. "The shrubs are not owned by the town, it's on private property. This is a matter of negotiation and cooperation."

Vice Chair Joshua Ostroff said the Town is aware of the safety issue and suggested riders should start walking their bikes across.

"I do agree that, too, is a challenge," White said.

McNally told Natick Patch his son is fine and was able to ride off after the collision, although a dent was left in the car.
