Graduation rate at 94 percent.

Boston Magazine's latest issue ranks the top schools in Massachusetts, and Natick came in at 54 out of 147.

Natick students have a graduation rate of 94.3 percent, with 79 percent going on to attend college. Natick students are also scoring 536 in SAT reading, 532 writing, and 564 math.

The overall ranking for Natick didn't come as a surprise to Superintendent Peter Sanchioni.

"We're always in that range," he said. "I think last year we were a little higher. If you look at some of the other towns, we’re in pretty good company. There are indicators that we are striving to improve on here in Natick. It’s not new to us."

Boston magazine spent months compiling data released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, which included information on schools in 147 communities.

The schools in the municipalities were ranked in 20 different categories, including average class size, student-to-teacher ratio, rates of college acceptance, as well as SAT and MCAS test scores.

"I'm not disappointed," Sanchioni said of Natick's ranking. "When I looked at the list, there were several schools above us who should be there. We’re always in that range. We’re in the top third and that's a positive place to be."

Dover came in at No. 1. Other schools near Natick were:

  • Sherborn (2)
  • Wayland (9)
  • Wellesley (10)
  • Weston (11)
  • Framingham (109).
