Brown School Art Teacher Katherine Furst Announces Retirement

Last day will be Jan. 14.

According to a news blast sent out on Monday, Brown School art teacher Katherine Furst is retiring.

Furst said in the blast her last day will be Jan. 14.

"I have planned to tell the children in January, but I wanted the Brown School Community to know now," she said. "I know that whom ever (Principal Kirk) Downing hires to replace me will be fantastic."

Furst said she is focused on completing the Square One projects prior to her retirement date.

"It has been an honor working in Brown School, and I thank you all for your generous support of the program and the many years you have allowed me to make art with your children," she said. "I am having a hard time letting go, so I will not be a stranger to the art room, making sure that the transition for the new art teacher will be a smooth one for the all."

Requests to both Furst and Superintendent Peter Sanchioni for comment were not returned.
