Kennedy to Open Without Power

Kennedy Middle School will open Thursday, despite still having no power after Irene.

will open its doors for the first day Thursday, despite still having no power since Irene hit.

School officials announced just before 8 p.m. Tuesday that Kennedy would not be opening with the rest of the schools on Wednesday due to the power outage. But today, the schools notified parents that Thursday would be the first day, despite the lack of power, internet or working phones.

The classes will be held in classrooms that have enough natural light and lunch will be available, according to the schools.

In case of emergency, parents may call a cell number, 774- 270-6596.

The Windsor Avenue and Eastleigh Lane bus stop has been changed to Windsor Avenue and Proctor Street for safety reasons as many roads are still littered with fallen trees and power lines.
