School Committee OKs Memorial for Late Crossing Guard

Cheryl Chagnon died July 8 of non-Hodgkins lymphoma

The Natick School Committee approved a plan this week that was submitted by friends of Cheryl Chagnon’s, the longtime crossing guard, for a memorial tree and bench at the west corner of Phillip J. Lucier and Jean Burke drives, according to a Boston Globe report.

The project would cost between $1,000 and $2,000, but all expenses would be covered by fundraising and volunteer labor, the Globe reports.

Chagnon died July 8 after battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She guided Brown Elementary and Kennedy Middle School students during her career.
