Trail Work - Natick Trail Buddies
BHLF Natick Trail Buddies will convene again this week. I'm back. I suspect that many of you are probably away on vacation. No problem. Thanks again for all your help while I was away. This Mon., and Wed., 7/9, 7/11, 10 am, I plan to focus on Pegan Cove: • knotweed • clean-ups of fire pit, fishing area, and sport bike areas. • check the "resprout" of the knotweed, black locust, and AB (Asian Bittersweet). Next week (7/16, 7/18): I'd like to do a "hackback" of the encroaching vegetation on the Eisenmenger Trail (particularly down from Arrow Path cul-de-sac to the wetland area --which we worked on last year, and the boardwalk up near Woodland St. and Woodland Village). Following week (7/23, 7/25): Mon., 7/23 - Cedar Gardens Knotweed Patch in upper parking lot which may spread into the Timothy Coolidge Woods); and Wed., 7/25 - Lilja - Mathworks Trails. 7/31 and 8/1: I'd like to develop a plan to clear all the junk from the northeast corner of Pine Hill Trails (which we worked on this winter). Still planning: • Natick Trails Day (probably October - date and site TBA) • a massive Coolidge Hill Summit Sweep in November (as usual) • further develop the Trail Stewards Program. More info coming over the next few weeks. • Brainstorm the Dug Pond Rim Trail w/ Doug and the NHS Earth Club, Natick Trails Maintenance Committee, others). • an upper Charles River "Scout" Canoe - Camping Trip (probably 8/3 and 8/4 but some flexibility there) (in the N0rfolk - Millis - Medway areas; absolutely gorgeous) Input from all of you would be helpful. These are just proposals. If you see other areas/ projects that are in greater "need," don't hesitate to let me know. (some who prefer the phone, can call me at 508-740-9949.) Thanks, Pat
