The attached quote from Tim Notke speaks volumes and is a wonderful life lesson. It also describes the heart and drive of the ladies who play for Natick's Middle School Girls hockey team. It was their heart that kept their unbeaten streak alive.
Saturday the girls faced off against a very skilled and well-coached Needham team. Because of their positioning and passing, it was apparent that Natick would need maintain a fast pace and capitalize on each opportunity to achieve victory. For the next 50 minutes, Natick's ladies executed an aggressive forecheck, a relentless backcheck, and solid defense on both blue lines. Throughout the game coaches Ihloff and Quirk pushed and positively encouraged the girls.
Their hard (team) work paid dividends with a 2-1 victory and they remain unbeaten. I did not choose the quote to say the Natick ladies don't have talent, they do; I chose the quote because without heart and drive, talent is not enough.
Great job ladies and coaches.
Cheers,
