Boston Marathon Runner Profile: Steven Gerrard

This is the fourth in a series of profiles of Natick residents running the 2013 Boston Marathon on April 15.

Name: Steven Gerrard Age: 47 Profession: Architect Marathon Experience: I have run seven marathons – two Boston: 2005 and 2008. Reason for Running: I am running Boston because it is an amazing experience- the history, the crowds, the participation in something so important to the City. Also, I live on the course (West Central Street), so running by my family and friends is a huge thrill. Training Tip: Start training a full year in advance of the race. Take your time, improve slowly, train consistently. Bib number: 2849

Name: Kat Whitten Age: 42 Profession: School Administrator Marathon Experience: This will be my 11th marathon and 3rd Boston. It's the first Boston I've qualified for, though. Reason for Running: Qualifying for Boston has been a goal of mine since college and there's nothing quite like running through Natick and getting the support of my friends and neighbors. I've been running competitively for almost 30 years, and it is an integral part of who I am. I feel happiest and most myself while out on a long run or while completing a speed workout on a track. Name: Dave Zucker Age: 28 Profession: Attorney Marathon Experience: This will be my first ever marathon, and there is no better marathon to be your first than Boston! Reason for Running: I am running with the Melanoma Foundation of New England (MFNE) in memory of my grandfather, Irving Mande (Papa). Papa was diagnosed with melanoma long before I was born and immediately started exercising religiously and wearing wide-brim hats in the sun, practices that I never understood as a kid, without knowing the full story. If he were here to see me now, he would be so proud that I am running the marathon, and the cause I am running it for. Name: Natascia Armitage Age: 39 years old Profession: I am a key leader at lululemon athletica and I live in Natick (right at the the mile 10 mark) with my wonderful husband Dustin and our energetic pup Luna. I am originally from Italy but have been in Boston for over 12 years now. Marathon Experience and Reason for Running: This is going to be my third Boston Marathon in a row and fifth Marathon overall. I started to run three years ago and after my first race, the Great Bay Half Marathon, I remember hearing a runner talking about her longtime goal of qualifying for Boston and realized that this is considered by many to be the ultimate marathon achievement. Reason for Running: I love to run, it has been many years since my last marathon and I am running in support of a great cause! Natick, Here Are Your Boston Marathon Runners

Here are the Natick runners participating in the Boston Marathon this year.

They run for all sorts of reasons: in memory of a loved one, to raise money for a cause ... and just to say, "I did it." The 117th annual Boston Marathon takes place on April 15 this year, taking runners through the course that threads from the Hopkinton starting line to Boston. Who Does Natick Think Will Win The NCAA Tournament?

64 college basketball teams will begin playing today with the goal of being crowned the National Champion on April 8.

The brackets are set, and the NCAA Tournament is upon us once again, as today the 64 remaining teams will begin competing over the next three weeks with their eyes set on standing atop the college basketball universe. As people across the country tune in to the second round (yes, we think calling it that is silly too) games tomorrow, and millions of them frantically check their brackets to see how well they're doing with their predictions, we know that people here in Natick will be doing the same thing. With that in mind, we decided to find out what some of Natick's basketball "experts" have predicted in this year's tournament. Patriots Cheerleaders Holding Open Auditions Tomorrow

Auditions will be held in Gillette Stadium's Dana Farber Field House. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

The New England Patriots cheerleaders will hold an open audition for the 2013 squad tomorrow.   Women who are at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED are invited to audition. The auditions will take place in Gillette Stadium’s Dana Farber Field House. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Candidates will perform two designated routines and a freestyle combination. They will be judged on dance ability, showmanship, overall appearance and level of physical fitness. Judges will narrow the field to up to 65 participants to be invited back for final auditions on Saturday, March 16.
