Hundreds of area residents lined up outside department stores for hours to get ahead of the pack and take advantage of Black Friday discounts. Djali Yohann-Silva and her husband hoped to save $500 on two televisions at Wal Mart. They had been outside the store since noon to take advantage of the midnight opening.

Black Friday is one of the most popular shopping days of the year.
I, like many of you, was up at 4:30 a.m. this morning, coffee in hand, heading to the mall to find the best deals. In years past, I've waited until a reasonable hour to hit the racks and rummage through savings bins, but this year I wanted to be able to say I braved the mayhem with the other Black Friday shopping fanatics. The day after Thanksgiving is one of the most popular of the year—Black Friday. But it's the day after, Small Business Saturday, that is really growing local stores' revenue.
As soon as the clock turns midnight on the Friday after Thanksgiving, shoppers will frantically rush to the larger stores holding sales for the holidays, including the Natick Mall when it opens at 6 a.m. But in recent years, there has been a push to take part in Small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday, to increase sales a local shops. In today's poll question, we're wondering, where will you be shopping for your holiday gifts the weekend after Thanksgiving?
