Authorities Catch Fugitive Mall Thieves

Police arrested two fugitives Saturday who are wanted for a string of thefts at malls in Peabody, Burlington and Natick.

Police arrested two fugitives Saturday who are wanted for a string of thefts at malls in Peabody, Burlington and Natick, in which they stole around $50,000— and possibly more—in merchandise. An investigation spearheaded by Peabody Police Det. Ralph Scopa and Patrolman John Nelson eventually led authorities to a Revere residence early Saturday morning where Edward McVey, 38, and accomplice Brandi Connor, 28, were taken into custody on multiple warrants. Police said a number of agencies assisted with the investigation and arrest, including the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office, U.S. Marshalls Office, the Natick Police Department and Burlington Police Department.
