5 Things: Final Farmers Market of the Year

The Farmers Market on the Common is about to have its last run of the season.

1. With winter approaching, Saturday is the final time the Natick Farmers Market will be on the common this year. Stop by to stock up on local produce, meats and freshly-baked bread while you still can. The market opens at 9 a.m. 2. Theater students at the Kennedy Middle School will be taking the stage on Saturday for a production of the Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, which aims to combine more than 200 stories into a single play. The 7 p.m. show costs $5.  3. Fall is the best time of year to spot meteorites, and the Mass Audubon's Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary wants to help you see some for yourself at their Stars and Meteors at the Holidays event. 1. Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, starts today. The National Family Partnership's Red Ribbon campaign is sponsoring a contest, through which you could win an IPad and money for your school.  2. Speaking of contests: we've announced the winner of our pumpkin photo contest on Patch. Tomorrow, we'll start soliciting photographs of your costumed pet. 1. The Natick Trail Buddies will be working to remove invasive species from Pegan Park Cove today at 10 a.m. To join the effort, contact Pat Conaway at 508-740-9949. 2. In celebration of Rosh Hashanah today, the Jewish New Year, the Temple Israel of Natick will host a family program where you can join community members in the tradition of casting bread into water. 5 Things: Police Warn of Local Gypsy Scam

The Natick Police Department issued a warning of local home repair scams.

1. Natick police issued a warning Tuesday night of local "gypsy scammers" who have been soliciting home repair scams in nearby Waltham recently. "Natick residents are asked to keep a wary eye for any activity they find suspicious," an NPD Facebook post said.  2. Today is the first day of school for Natick students and is the grand opening of the new Natick High School. Did you or your kids take photos? 1. Do you think you know Star Wars? The Morse Institute Library is ready to test your knowledge today at a night of all things Star Wars. Trivia, a costume contest and Star Wars history will start at the library Tuesday at 7 p.m. Update: We got our dates mixed up, this event is actually Tuesday night.  2. Every other week, the Board of Selectmen meet to hear residents' concerns and vote on important decisions that affect the town.
