Family-friendly ideas to ring in the New Year.
Looking to ring in 2013 with some fun for your family? Have relatives coming into town and you want to plan something special to celebrate? Why not throw a kid-friendly New Year's Eve party? Since I’m usually running on empty by the time New Year's Eve rolls around, I’ve put together some fun but EASY ideas for staying home and celebrating in your family room with the kids. GENERAL TIPS: Make it a party. If you don't have relatives staying with you, invite neighbors and friends with kids about the same age over to help celebrate. Natick has many Houses of Worship in town, and several of those celebrate Christmas and will have Christmas services. Here is a schedule of Christmas services in Natick this year: Saint Patrick's Church will have three services on Christmas Eve: 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and midnight. When many people think of Hanukkah—sometimes spelled “Chanukah” because of its pronunciation in Hebrew—they think of dreidels, the nine-armed version of a menorah called a Chanukiah, and Adam Sandler. The holiday season is in full effect and continues this weekend with special events and holiday sales at Natick Mall.
The holiday season is in full swing, and nowhere in Natick is that more evident than with vast amount of shopping taking place at the Natick Mall. On Friday and Saturday the mall will be open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. On Sunday the mall will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. You can also have your photo taken with Santa on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Santa takes a break between 2-3 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. On Sunday Santa will be making an appearance from noon until 6 p.m. He will be taking a break from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. There are also many sales at the mall for the holiday season right now. Celebrate the Festival of Lights in Natick with fun events and delicious recipes.
This year, Hanukkah begins on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 8, and ends a week later on Sunday, Dec. 16. According to Chabad.org, Hanukkah starts on the Hebrew calendar date of 25 Kislev and lasts for eight days.
